Spring Giving with Spring Cleaning

Girl Holding a Box Labeled Donations

Why do we say, "spring cleaning"? Does that mean we only clean our house in the spring and live in filth the rest of the year? Do we have to clean during spring break? I hope not!

Ideally, we should be cleaning all the time. However, spring is a good time to restore order in our house. This means not only thoroughly cleaning our house but also r-organizing our space. As you spring clean, consider whether you can increase your living space by letting go of some of your belongings:

  1. Donate or discard anything you rarely use. Most of the time you may think you need something when you haven’t used it in years. Many of our clients only needed us to ask if they wanted to keep something to quickly decide that it is time to move on.

  2. Reduce and donate wall decorations. Sometimes having too many items on the walls makes it feel busy. Having empty spaces on your wall as well as your floor will make your house feel more spacious.

  3. Donate any duplicative items. It is convenient to have a stand blender and an immersion blender, but do you really need both?

Household donations help support local charities. Aim to donate as much as you can while you spring clean. Not only will it help others, but it would also help you enjoy your living space more. Happy Spring Cleaning and Spring Giving!
